A Matterpak bundle consists of several components (colorized point cloud, reflected ceiling plan, high-resolution floor plan, and 2D mesh file). The E57 file is a single file containing a high-density colorized point cloud. The E57 point cloud processes a much larger dataset than the Matterpak, resulting in more than 10 times the detail derived from a Matterpak. E57 is a vendor-neutral file format that can be used with a wide variety of 3D design applications.
What are the features and capabilities of an E57 file?
E57 is a vendor-neutral, high-density point cloud file, defined by the ASTM E2807 standard. It can be used to complete complex workflows in a wide variety of 3D design applications. You can also easily import the E57 3D point cloud data into Autodesk Revit® using the Matterport Plug-In for Revit®.
This format is widely adopted by most 3D design applications, so you can use your Matterport digital twin in a wide range of applications, including but not limited to:
You can download a sample E57 file here: https://static.matterport.com/misc/UoqjwziqrZs-Aon_Lobby.e57
Who is best suited to use the E57 file?
The E57 file is for architects, MEP engineers, general contractors, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, BIM managers, VDC managers, and other construction professionals who need a higher density point cloud than the Matterpak .XYZ file provides to complete complex workflows.
A Matterport E57 File for your scan is $149 and is sent to you within 48 hours.
